Ceramic City Clay Art Show
Prospectus
The Museum of Ceramics, 400 East Fifth Street, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920, presents the annual “Ceramic City Clay Art Show.” This event will take place Thursday June 6, 2024 through Saturday June 8, 2024. Hours will be 9:00 am to 3:30 pm with extended hours to 6:00 pm on Friday June 7, 2024 during East Liverpool’s First Friday on Fifth Event.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Ceramic City Clay is open to all ceramic artists who may enter in any of four categories: Ceramic Art, Derivative Works, Student Work, or Clay Kids. Ceramic Art refers to original pieces that are made up of at least 70% clay as the primary medium. Derivative Works use pottery shards or pottery items to create new works of art. Examples include mosaics, pottery shard jewelry, or pottery items that are hand-painted or decorated with original decals. The Student Work entries are made in the Museum of Ceramics clay classes or in high school clay classes. The Clay Kids category includes entries of any playdough or air-dry clay creations completed by children up to the age of 13.
2) Artists may submit up to 3 entries in any category. Entry fee is $5 per piece; there is no entry fee for submission in the Student Work and Clay Kids.
3) All works submitted must have been created after January 2019.
4) Entries will be accepted at the Museum of Ceramics on Wednesday May 29 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Special arrangements can be made for those unable to come during this time by calling the Museum at 330-386-6001 during open hours. The deadline for entries is May 29 at 6:00 pm.
5) Works must not exceed 20 inches high, wide, or in depth and not weigh more than 40 pounds.
6) Works must be properly prepared and presented ready and safe for viewing.
7) All entries must be accompanied by the labels provided upon drop-off.
8) Judging will take place on or before Monday June 3. A “Best of Show” award and other awards, based on the Judges’ discretion, will be presented.
9) The Museum of Ceramics will conduct all sales and collect Ohio sales tax. The Museum will retain 20% of the selling price for its services and 80% will be paid to the artist.
10) Pickup dates for the entries are Saturday June 8, 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm or Tuesday June 11, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at the Museum. Items left beyond 30 days of this date become the property of the Museum of Ceramics.
